Kumiko Ōtoshi

About Kumiko

Born in Awaji City. She graduated from the Department of Japanese Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. The 1300th anniversary of the compilation of the Kojiki in 2012 and the 1300th anniversary of the compilation of the Nihon Shoki in 2020.

 

She plans and produces mythological reading pieces for each 25-stringed koto. In addition to performing, she also focuses on popularizing mythology and history. She received the Hyogo female future Hanada Award.

 

Being involved in traditional culture is like knowing and continuing to receive the blessings of our many ancestors. Love, courage, hope, confidence, pride. With the hope that people can find that kind of light in Japanese culture, she continues to spread the word through performances, lectures, and new works.
